AES Engineering Scholarship
This $500 award is available to high school seniors motivated to furthering their education. You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible. Students must submit an essay to a question posted on their website: www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm. Deadline: June 30



Abbott and Fenner Business Consultants Scholarship
The A & F Scholarships worth $1,000 are available to juniors and seniors with the desire and ambition to succeed. To apply you must write an essay in response to the topic found at www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm. Deadline: June 30


Aid Association For Lutherans Scholarships
AAL is a membership organization and only members are eligible to apply for the AAL scholarship. Applications are sent to the homes of each eligible member. Applications can also be requested at the local AAL district representative office.

 

Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship

Amazon is choosing 400 high school seniors across the nation to receive $40,000 for college and a guaranteed engineering internship at Amazon following their freshman year. Apply at https://www.amazonfutureengineer.com/scholarships  Deadline: January 20



American Cancer Society Childhood Cancer Survivor College Scholarship Program
The Great West Division of the ACS awards $2,500 renewable scholarships to young cancer survivors. Apply at www.cancer.org/myacs/greatwest/programsandservices/childhood-cancer-survivor-college-scholarship-program. Deadline: February 22

 

America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Scholarships

More than $500,000 will be awarded to students interested in Ag Careers.  Go to AmericasFarmers.com for more info and official rules.  Apply at FFA.org/scholarships.  Deadline: February 6



American Fire Sprinkler Association Scholarship Contest
National essay contest with a total of ten $2,000 scholarships. Contest details, essay requirements and the application process can be found at www.afsascholarship.org. Deadline: April 1


American Indian College Fund/Hilton Family Diversity Scholarship
Scholarship awards of up to $2,500 for American Indian students entering tribal colleges. Must have a GPA of at least 3.0, financial need, and demonstrated leadership, service, and commitment to the American Indian community. Visit www.collegefund.org for more information. Deadline: May 31

 

AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Scholarships

Students can apply for multiple scholarships including a ND Department Scholarship (2) as well as a national scholarship.  Must be son, daughter, step-child, grandchild, or step-grandchild of current member of the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary.  For more info on state scholarship, contact Shirley White at 701-237-4122.  The applications and criteria can be found at www.amvetsaux.orgDeadline: April 25

 

American Legion Auxiliary Scholarships

The  American Legion Auxiliary Department of ND sponsors scholarships for nursing students as well as students seeking a degree in the field of their choice. This includes the Samsung Scholarship for students who attended ND Boys State or Girls State.  Several national level scholarships are also awarded, including Children of Warriors National Presidential Scholarship ($5,000). America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Scholarships

Anne Krapu-High Plains Reader Journalism Scholarship

Anthony Monroe Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Anthony Monroe, a 2002 graduate of BHS who was killed while serving in Iraq. Applicants must be entering into a Multi-Media program or course of study (ex: TV production, photo or broadcast journalism, media arts, etc) and demonstrate financial need. Army Emergency Relief - James Ursano Scholarship Fund
Awards primarily based on need for dependent children of Army soldiers on active duty, retired or deceased. Applicants must maintain a  2.0 gpa. Download at www.aerhq.org. Deadline: May 1


Aspiring Animation Professional Scholarship

Aspiring Fashion Professional Scholarship

Associated General Contractors of North Dakota Scholarships
Scholarships worth $1,500 for students planning to enroll in Construction Management or Construction Engineering at Minnesota State University Moorhead, NDSU or UMary and $750 awards for those in construction related careers at BSC or NDSCS in Wahpeton. Baron and Budd Attorneys Mesothelioma Cancer Victims Memorial Scholarships

Awards of $2,500 for top video (2-3 minutes) and top essay (800-1,250 words) addressing how cancer has impacted your life (can be any kind of cancer).  Deadline: July 8


Basin Electric Power Cooperative Scholarship Program
More than 160 scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each are awarded to children of full-time employees of Basin and its subsidiaries, and the children of member-cooperative employees and consumers. Deadline: February 15


BCC Foundation Donna Johnson Memorial Scholarship
The Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation (BCCF) will award two $1000 scholarships to individuals who are interested in and committed to oncology nursing and who are pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing through a Bismarck college. Benjamin Berg Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship fund was established to honor the memory of Benjamin Berg, a 2016 CHS graduate. Preference will be given to seniors who participated in baseball at CHS and have a GPA of 3.5 or above. Find at www.bpsfoundation.com/scholarships under NDCF scholarships. Deadline: April 1


Better Business Bureau Student of Integrity Scholarship
The BBB will award  scholarships to students who personify all the best aspects of high character in their personal choices and actions. Application includes essay of 1,000 words or less or short video. Available online at  https://www.bbb.org/local-bbb/bbb-of-minnesota-and-north-dakota. Deadline: TBA


BigSun Athletic Organization Scholarship
A $500 scholarship is awarded by BigSun Athletics to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. Complete essay in response to question found on their website: www.bigsunathletics.com. Deadline: June 30


Bismarck Dollars for Scholars
Scholarships of $500 will be given to successful applicants from the Bismarck area who plan to further their education. At least two of the scholarships will be awarded to seniors who plan to attend a vocational-technical school. Online at: www.bismarck.dollarsforscholars.org. Deadline: February 28


Bismarck Eagles Auxiliary BSC/University of Mary Scholarship
The Eagles Auxiliary provides a $500 scholarship to a student attending BSC or UMary. Financial need is given more importance than scholastic average. Deadline: April 15


Bismarck Kiwanis Club Servant Leader Scholarship
Individual one-time scholarships of $1,000 are given to four local seniors who plan to enroll in an institution of higher learning in North Dakota. Criteria includes: scholastic record and ACT/SAT scores; future plans, school activity record and personal qualities that indicate potential success in college; good citizenship and service involvement; and financial need. Deadline: March 1

 

Bismarck Larks Community FUNd

The Bismarck Larks will award scholarships to high school seniors or those attending college who are interested in pursuing a career in the sports, events and entertainment field.  Scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis.

 

Bismarck-Mandan Mayors’ Committee for People with Disabilities

Up to five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students wishing to pursue post-secondary education.  Any student with a qualifying disability is eligible to apply.  Deadline:  April 26



Bismarck Masonic Foundation Scholarship
Five scholarship awards are given to Bismarck seniors who plan to attend college in ND. Criteria includes academic record, future plans, an essay and school, church, & community involvement. Deadline: April 11


Bismarck Schools Scholarship
One senior from each public high school will be selected. Selection will be based on academic achievement, need & school performance indicating probable success in higher education. Find at www.bpsfoundation.com/scholarships under NDCF scholarships. Deadline: April 1


Bismarck Rotary Club
The Bismarck Rotary club awards six $2500 scholarships-one to a graduating senior from each local high school. Criteria includes: scholastic record, co-curricular and community involvement and leadership qualities. Apply at ndcf.net.  Deadline: March 15

Bismarck State College Foundation Scholarships  

Awards from $500 to $2,000 per year for qualifying students in academic, energy,  performing arts, visual arts,  journalism and certain technical programs at BSC.  Students with a GPA between 3.0 and 4.0 have a good chance of earning a scholarship!  Find a complete listing and applications at https://bismarckstate.edu/alumnifoundation/foundation/scholarships/Priority Deadline:  January 1

Bismarck State College - Chesak Family Scholarship
This $1000 scholarship is available to new students at BSC in one of the following programs: Geographic Information Systems Tech; Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning; Mechanical Maintenance Technology; Medical Laboratory Sciences; Web Page Development & Design. Bismarck Tribune Teen of the Week

The Bismarck Tribune, along with MDU Resources, will honor one high school senior each week.  At the end of the school year, a $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to one student.  All-around students who excel in the classroom, extra-curriculars, the workplace, and in the community are encouraged to apply.  

Brandon Thomsen Memorial Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship was created by Brandon's family after his sudden passing in 2019.  The criteria established requires that the recipient must be a CHS graduating senior with preference given to those who, like Brandon, demonstrate the qualities of compassion, perseverance, and a genuine willingness to help make a difference in the lives of those around them. Burger King Scholars Program

Scholarship grants range from $1,000 to $50,000, and are intended to help students offset the cost of attending college or post-secondary vocational/technical school. Recipients are selected based on their grade point average (2.5 min), work experience, co-curricular activities and community service. Apply at bk-scholars.comDeadline:  December 15


Capital Credit Union Howard Snortland Scholarship 
Capital Credit Union is offering eight $1,000 scholarships for seniors who are members of CCU and will be attending college in ND or Minnesota. The scholarship application is available at www.capcu.org in January of each year and specific details are included at that time. Deadline: February 15

 

Capital Credit Union AVID Scholar Award

 The Capital Credit Union AVID Scholar Award was established in 2019. Capital Credit Union takes pride in educating their members and making them wiser consumers of financial services, as well as enhancing financial literacy and education in the communities they serve. They recognize the AVID program as an excellent way to prepare students for college, careers and life. Applicants must have 3.2 weighted cumulative GPA, 3 years of AVID, including senior year and 1 credit of an AP course and exam; or 1/2 credit of a dual credit course. Find at www.bpsfoundation.com/scholarshipsDeadline: April 1


Centennial PTO Shelley Stumpf Memorial Scholarship
Two seniors who attended Centennial for a minimum of one year will receive $300. The committee will consider the following criteria: school and community involvement, academic standing, and an essay. Applicants should visit the PTO page at www.bismarckschools.org/centennial to download an application. Deadline: February 18


Century High School Staff Scholarship
A graduating senior who attended CHS for at least three semesters will receive a one-time award of $500. Criteria: financial need, academic standing, and school & community activities. Find at www.bpsfoundation.com/scholarshipsDeadline: April 1



CHI St. Alexius Teen Volunteer Scholarship

This $500 scholarship is available to students who have completed a minimum of 50 hours of volunteering in the CHI St. Alexius Gift Shop.  Application requires a brief essay (250 words) and two letters of reference. Deadline: March 15

 

Chris Traeholt Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will assist a student from Century High School who is planning to enroll in the engineering department at North Dakota State University. Find at www.bpsfoundation.com/scholarships under NDCF scholarships. Deadline: April 1


Coca-Cola Scholars Program
150 well-rounded seniors who are active in their school and community and balance extra-curricular activities with strong academic performances will be named "Coca-Cola Scholars" and awarded $20,000 scholarships. The application can be found at the Coca-Cola web site at http://www.coca-colascholars.org. Deadline: October 2


Commitment to Agriculture Scholarship Program
One hundred awards of $1,500 will be presented to seniors whose families are engaged in production agriculture and plan to pursue a career in agriculture. Minimum ACT composite score of 18 required. Download applications at www.monsanto.com, or www.nafb.com. Deadline: February 15

DSG’s Education Connection Scholarship

DSG, a wholesale distributor for plumbing, electrical, and HVAC/R supplies, has given away thousands in scholarships to students interested in entering the trades. Dakota Community Bank & Trust Scholarship

North Dakota high school seniors who demonstrate community and/or school involvement and plan to continue their education by enrolling full-time (12 credits or more) in the fall are encouraged to apply.  Eleven recipients will be chosen to receive this $500 award.  Available on the bank's website.  Deadline: March 1

 

Dakota Lions Restoration of Sight and Health Scholarship

This scholarship provides $1,000 to an undergraduate student attending a post-secondary educational institution (university, college, technical school, etc.) in the states of South Dakota and North Dakota (one award for each state). Qualified applicants must be pursuing an education in a field related to the Mission of Dakota Lions Sight & Health (Helping to Enable the Restoration of the Gifts of Sight & Health) - this may include health professions, science and research, social services, philanthropy, nonprofit organizations, etc.  The website and applications are located at dakotasight.org/scholarship.  Deadline: April 30. 



Dakota Stage/Shade Tree Scholarship Award
Seniors who are alumni of Shade Tree Players or Dakota Stage Ltd. are eligible to apply for this $500 award. Requirements include one-page essay, theatrical resume, 2 letters of reference, and 20 hours of community service. Download application at www.dakotastageltd.com. Deadline: March 1

 

David Blackstead Capital City Lions Club Scholarship

The David Blackstead Lions Club Scholarship was established by the Capital City Lions club to honor David's impact on the Bismarck community. One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from Bismarck Public Schools with a preference for students that have post-secondary plans focused within the medical field. Danie Thomssen Memorial Scholarship

Created to celebrate the life and honor the memory of Danie Thomssen, who was a vibrant and active part of the band program at CHS (Class of 2016) and later at NDSU. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to one senior in the CHS Band program. The recipient will be selected by the band directors and must demonstrate a strong sense dedication to the band program, leadership in the classroom, self-discipline in their practice, and a high level of musical excellence.  Find at www.bpsfoundation.com/scholarshipsDeadline: April 1

 

Diane Sigl Schlosser Scholarship

Established in 2017 by her family and friends to honor Diane’s love for teaching and commitment to helping students discover and pursue their passions  Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students that demonstrate the qualities of compassion, perseverance, and a willingness to help make a difference in the lives of those around them. Don Prouty Memorial Scholarship

The goal of this scholarship is to carry on former BPS principal and entrepreneur Don Prouty’s guiding principles into future generations of educators by awarding a $1250 annual scholarship to an outstanding BPS graduating senior with an intended major in education. Preference will be given to students who were involved in athletics and/or peer to peer groups. Dixon Wightman Scholarship
This $1,000 award was established to honor longtime teacher and coach Dixon Wightman. The award will be made to a BPS track and field athlete who generally exhibits solid moral character and strong academic performance. Ducks Unlimited National Scholarship Program

Ducks Unlimited (DU) will award 61 college scholarships (ranging from $500 to $10,000) to graduating seniors who are members of DU. Volunteers who have shown an exceptional level of commitment to wetlands conservation are encouraged to apply. Students must have GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Deadline: January 15

 

Dushinske & Jamison Water Resources Scholarship                                                                                                  Four $1,500 scholarships for students  planning to attend a ND college or university. Preference will be given to, but is not limited to, students whose families have taken an active role in state water resources management and students studying water-related fields.  Go to www.ndwater.org/scholarship-program/.  Deadline: April 1



Education is Freedom (EIF) Scholarship
EIF is a national foundation that provides scholarships ranging from $500-$5,000 to ‘B' average students whose families cannot afford tuition and whose grades do not qualify them for traditional scholarships. Eide Family Scholarship

Four $1,000 scholarships for graduating BPS seniors with preference given to students looking to focus their studies in the areas of Business, Criminal Justice or Auto Mechanics. Additional consideration will be given to students enrolled within a branch of the military. The four annual recipients of the Eide Family Scholarship need not possess the highest GPA or other accolades. The most important criteria will be someone who has a desire to achieve and is willing to work hard along with a need for financial assistance. Elks Emergency Educational Grant
Renewable one-year grants of up to $4000 for child of Elks who are deceased or totally incapacitated. Visit www.elks.org/enf/scholars for details or email scholarship@elks.org to request application.


Elks Legacy Awards
Four-year $4,000 awards for children or grandchildren of an Elk in good standing. Applicant should exhibit core values of knowledge, charity, community and integrity. Also judged on ACT/SAT scores, transcript, application and essay. Available at enf.elks.org/Leg. Deadline: February 5


Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship
Local winners (3 male, 3 female) receive from $400-$800. Five hundred national winners receive a minimum of $1,000. Must be a U.S. citizens, do not have to be related to an Elks member. Judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. Available at enf.elks.org/MVSDeadline: November 15

 

Esssentia Health High School Scholarship

Essentia Health West Market will award a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating CHS senior, continuing education in a healthcare related field (whose major interest is in the field of science and/or medicine). Awards shall be based upon good character, scholastic achievement and promise, citizenship, personality, and seriousness of purpose.  Applicants must have a cumulative GPA  of 3.0 or higher.  Applicants who are a family member of an Essentia Health officer that is director or above (titles include but are not limited to Pres, CEO, COO, CNO, SVP, VP, Sr Director, Director), or Trustee are not eligible to receive an EH scholarship. Deadline: April 1

 

Farm Credit Services of ND Scholarships in Agriculture
Ten scholarships worth $1000 each will be awarded to seniors who plan to enroll in college this fall. The recipient must be from an actively farming or ranching family OR planning to pursue an agricultural career. Selection is based on academic record, personal attributes, vocational promise, leadership, and financial need. Apply at www.farmcreditmandan.com or www.farmcreditnd.com. Deadline: March 1


Farmers Union Co-op House Scholarship
For students with at least a 2.5 GPA planning to attend NDSU and are Farmers Union members, relatives of past Co-op House members or member of a cooperative. First Community Credit Union Scholarship
Both multi-year (renewable) and single year scholarships ranging from $5,000 to $1,000 will be awarded to FCCU members or children of FCCU members. Criteria includes GPA, test scores, extra-curricular activities and essay. Go to www.myfccu.com/scholarships. Deadline: Third Friday of March

 

Flavorful Futures Scholarship

Sparkling Ice is awarding five scholarships of $5,000 that celebrate students' individuality, creativity and communication of future goals.  Apply at flavorfulfutures.com.  Deadline: February 15

Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund
The Freedom Alliance honors our military heroes by granting scholarships for dependent sons or daughters of US soldiers who were permanently disabled or killed while serving their country. Apply at www.FAScholarship.com.

 

Gates Scholarship

The Gates Scholarship (TGS) is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors from low-income households. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential.  Deadline: September 15



Gene L. Kouba Memorial Scholarship
Adam Klein Chapter #3, Disabled American Veterans offers this scholarship worth up to $1,000 for veterans of the US Armed Forces, spouses and children of veterans. Deadline: March 15


GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program
This national program awards college scholarships to high school seniors who embody the characteristics of President Ronald Reagan at school, in the community, in the workplace, and at home. They're looking for students with leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. Recipients receive $10,000 renewable scholarships - up to $40,000 per student. Hagan Scholarship Foundation

The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based scholarship, providing recipients with the opportunity to graduate debt-free. The scholarship provides up to $7,500 each semester for up to eight semesters.  Applicants must have a GPA of 3.5 or better and meet income and work requirements. Go to: www.hsfmo.org to learn more. Harold Kepler Music Scholarship

The fund was established in 1990 by Adelene Kepler in loving memory of her late husband who was the first band director at Century. The scholarship will assist band students from Century High School with one-half of the registration fee for the International Music Camp. Student must be an underclassman at Century High as of March 1; must plan to enroll with the band program the next school year; must be an active participant with the concert or prep band programs; and must have maintained a letter grade of an A or equivalent in band. Heisman High School Scholarship

Winning a Heisman High School Scholarship presented by Acceptance Insurance requires a weighted GPA of 3.0 or better, participation in at least one sport, and demonstrated leadership at school and in the community. School Winners from every school, 88 State Winners receive a $1,000 scholarship, 10 National Finalists receive a $2,000 scholarship, 2 National Winners receive a $10,000 scholarship!  Apply here.  Deadline: October 19

 

Hess College & Career Scholarship

Five scholarships ($2,000)will be awarded to students on a competitive basis to Bismarck Public Schools graduates who plan to attend college with a major in oil & gas, engineering, or medical fields in the Summer or Fall semesters 2019 or Spring semester 2020. Students must attend a North Dakota post-secondary school. Highland Acres Elementary Scholarship
Students who attended Highland Acres for a minimum of three years are eligible for this $500 award.  Check the Highland Acres PTO website in early spring. Deadline: May 8

  

Horatio Alger Association Scholarships

Scholarships available to juniors planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree who have financial need, are involved in co-curricular and community activities and have a minimum GPA of 2.0.  Apply online at https://horatioalger.org/scholarships/ns/Deadline:  March 15



Horatio Alger National Career and Technical Scholarships

STEM Scholarship for Aspiring Commercial Drone Pilots

Scholarship designed to support high school students ages 16 and up who are serious about learning how to fly drones commercially.  Recipients receive free access to an in-depth test prep course for the FAA’s “Part 107” certification exam to be a commercial drone pilot (usual cost is $299). West Dakota Chevy Dealers invite nominations for outstanding juniors and seniors to compete for a $5,000 scholarship - five other finalists will receive $500 awards. Students can nominate themselves or be nominated by family, friends, parents, teachers or coaches. Nominators fill out basic information including community involvement, academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and volunteer work.
