American Sign Language Club
Eligibility Requirements:
Membership in the American Sign Language (ASL) Club is open to all Century High School students in grades 9 through 12. Prior knowledge of ASL is not required for participation.
Purpose/Mission Statement
The American Sign Language (ASL) Club is dedicated to fostering awareness, appreciation, and understanding of Deaf culture and the use of American Sign Language. The club provides opportunities for students to learn and practice ASL, engage in cultural activities, and promote inclusivity within the school community.
Time Commitment:
Preliminary organizational meetings are typically held at the beginning of the school year. These regularly scheduled meetings are once per week for about an hour. The ASL Club meets regularly on Thursday mornings at 7:30 a.m. In addition to weekly meetings, members are encouraged to participate in activities and events held throughout the school year, both during and outside of the school day.
Procedures for Joining:
Attend the preliminary organizational meeting at the beginning of the school year, or come and see one of the advisors to sign up.
Activity Time Period:
American Sign Language students meet from September through May.
Membership Limit:
There is no limit on membership. All interested students are welcome to join and participate fully in club activities.
Location of Meetings:
American Sign Language will meet in E201 unless otherwise noted.
